DESCRIPTION

This routine gets the next chunk delimited by specified chars except if they are inside matching quotes. The quotes are not stripped from the input. This routine combines the behaviour of gen_get_token and match_quote_get_token.

RETURNS

The number of characters copied to the buffer excluding the NULL. This means that if there are no characters left, then NO_MORE_TOKENS is returned which is #defined as 0.
