DESCRIPTION

WARNING! This function is not intended for widespread use. It is used to serialize access to the resources used by the pthreads wrapper itself. Irresponsible use of this function will cause problems. LOCK STATUS: this (heedlessly) attempts to unlock the thread_master_lock

RETURNS

NO_ERROR, if successful. If the mutex cannot be unlocked this returns ERROR and sets an error message.
