NAME

kjb_read_2 - Wraps read(2) to conform with the kjb library conventions.

PARAMETERS

int des: File descriptor
void *buff: Buffer for read
size_t len: Number of bytes to read
size_t *len_ptr: Address for number of bytes read; can be NULL

DESCRIPTION

This routine essentially wraps read(2) to conform with the kjb library conventions. Unlike kjb_read(), it can read up to the maximum of size_t bytes.

RETURNS

On success kjb_read_2 returns NO_ERROR, and the number of bytes is put into *num_bytes_read_ptr if it is not NULL. On end of file. EOF is returned. On failure ERROR is returned and an error message is set. If the I/O is non blocking, then WOULD_BLOCK may also be returned. Finally, depending on the type of signal handling in place, INTERRUPTED may also be returned.
