int signed_strlen(const char *str);
DESCRIPTION
This routine returns the length of a string as an integer. This is only
different from "strlen" in that it returns an int (which is capped at
INT_MAX), instead of size_t. It exists mainly to cut down on stupid warnings
and unecessary promotions. Of course, sometimes the better solution is to
change what is being computed to size_t, if that is what you mean!
This function should never be used if the string length can exceed INT_MAX,
which on 16 bit OS is not particularly big.
If the length of the string exceeds INT_MAX, this is treated as a bug.
DISCLAIMER
This software is not adequatedly tested. It is recomended that
results are checked independantly where appropriate.
